Dental crowns are sometimes also referred to as caps; they are thin coverings placed over teeth that are weak, damaged or discolored, to protect them and improve their appearance. Crowns are often made of porcelain or ceramic, and can be created to match the natural color of your teeth.

Bridges, on the other hand, are used to replace teeth that are missing, and are cemented to the teeth surrounding the missing tooth (providing a “bridge” on which the replacement tooth is placed). Porcelain and ceramic are popular materials for bridges as well.
